About Us

Growing up a lil brown skin girl from the low-end of Chicago, she has always been drawn to fashion.  Since the 3rd grade, our Founder of John Wesley Eyewear Designs have been an avid eyeglass wearer.  She went from being ashamed of wearing eyeglasses, being called a nerd during her school-aged days, to not only gaining confidence wearing them but choosing bold, bright and unique frames to express her budding personality.

Walking into cookie cutter eyewear companies seemed too mundane so she started seeking out small family owned shops.  She quickly learned they had more of an extensive and unique eyewear collection. However, these came at a hefty and almost unaffordable price.

After undergoing lasik eye surgery in 2018, she began to accumulate a pretty massive sunglass collection as she started to pair them with her outfits.  She soon discovered how much she missed her glasses.

And collectively this is how John Wesley Eyewear Designs was birthed.  She wanted to provide our customers with unique, fashionable eyewear at such an affordable price that you would be inclined to buy more than one pair.

Our Backstory

Who is John Wesley?  John Wesley Sr. is our Founder first love, Her Daddy.  They were close and she learned much from him. Independence, humility, resilience, philanthropy, entrepreneurship and the importance of family bonds.  Being number 8 of 8 siblings, she has always had the steps prepared for her. A little piece of each of her siblings lives within her.  There was a 30 year age difference between her parents when they married. They both passed away in 1993, four months apart when she was almost 21 years old.  Here’s an interesting fact, her father was 64 years young when she was born. (yep, you read that correctly) He lived to be 84 years old.

Now, John Wesley Jr. is also her  oldest brother.  They too share a special bond.  He has always been her protector and always so supportive of her many endeavors.  He used to always tell her how important it was to have a “hustle” on the side of her current career. They spent many days brainstorming about different ways to create extra cash flow and one was starting an eyewear company because of her affinity for eyeglasses.

Two years ago, he suffered a massive stroke that left him needing extensive rehab. He lost his ability to speak, swallow, suffered memory loss, he lost his mobility and this left him with left side paralysis.  But by the Grace of God, he is still here and still on the road to recovery.

While going through his difficult rehab, one day he managed to say to her,  “what’s up with that eyewear line, we still need to do that”.  In her mind she was thinking, “how did he remember
